Getting Started with InfraMarker

 

Are you new to InfraMarker and need to familiarize yourself with all the new tools and software? 

 

You’re in luck. We’ve created a series of videos that make it easy to see how each component of the InfraMarker System fits together to make asset management easier and more efficient.

InfraMarker equipment requirements


Let’s go over a few things you’ll need to get started that aren’t included with InfraMarker. These are:

 

1.     An Android smartphone loaded with Android 4.0 or higher. Not sure how to find out what version your smartphone is running? Click here to learn more.

 

2.     A computer running Windows 7 or higher. In order to use InfraMarker’s web-based application, you’ll need to use either Internet Explorer version 11 or higher, or Google Chrome version 38 or higher.

 

3.     Although it’s not essential, we recommend using a mouse to better navigate through the various maps used by the InfraMarker software. 

 

Now let’s learn how to begin using the web-based software component of the InfraMarker system.

 

An introduction to InfraMarker’s web-based software platform 


Since InfraMarker’s software is completely web-based, you don’t need to install any InfraMarker applications directly onto your computer. Instead, you can open them directly through a compatible web browser. 


After opening a browser window, navigate to www.inframarker.com. Click the “Login” button at the top right of the screen and enter the username and password you were provided with your InfraMarker package.

 

If your login information is correct, you’ll then enter the InfraMarker web app interface. If you’re unable to access the app, please contact your provider for assistance and technical support.

Preparing your smartphone for the InfraMarker mobile app

 

In order to access and use the InfraMarker mobile app you may be required to do some simple setup on your Android smartphone. 


First, your smartphone must have a Google or Gmail account installed. This allows you to access and download the InfraMarker app onto your phone from the Google Play Store. 


You’ll also need the Google Maps app installed. Fortunately, most Android smartphone providers pre-load these apps onto the phone prior to purchase. This is especially true for newer smartphone models.

 

If you need additional assistance finding or installing these applications onto your phone, your phone’s service provider can assist you further.

 

Enabling wireless connectivity features on your smartphone

 

There are three connectivity functions that need to be enabled on your smartphone for the InfraMarker mobile app to work properly.

 

Check the settings page on your phone to make sure the following features are turned on:


• Wireless network (Wi-Fi) connection


• Location/GPS


• Bluetooth connectivity 


How to download and install the InfraMarker mobile app onto your smartphone 


The InfraMarker mobile app can be found in the Google Play Store. Simply search for “InfraMarker” within the Play Store, agree to the terms and conditions, and download the app to your device. 


Once downloaded, the app will appear alongside your other mobile applications. Tap the InfraMarker icon to enter the app.

 

A map should appear on your screen with a button in the top left corner. To login to the system, tap this button to reach the settings screen. Select “Login” and enter your username and password. Press the “Login” button at the bottom to proceed.

 

Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to view all your cloud-based assets and a list of details for each of them.

 

It’s important to note that before your phone can read and write physical RFID tags, you must connect your smartphone to the InfraMarker RFID Reader/Writer via Bluetooth.


With setup complete, you can read and write RFID tags using the mobile app. Begin by selecting the “Read” icon or the “Write” icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

 

If you’d like to read a tag, tapping this icon will open a screen showing all of the information available for a particular tag. To select a tag, you’ll need to select your RFID Reader/Writer from the Available Devices menu. If your device isn’t listed, push the trigger on the Reader/Writer and look for a lit blue light on the device. 


On the screen, you’ll be prompted with a Bluetooth pairing request with your device’s identifier code. Select “OK” to allow the devices to connect to each other. Your Reader/Writer should now be listed as an “Available Device.” Select it, and you’ll return to the Read screen with the proper device listed.

 

Completing your work session with the InfraMarker app


Although you can exit the app at any time by simply pressing the Back button on your Android phone, this alone will not sever the Bluetooth connection between your smartphone and RFID Reader/Writer.

 

To completely close the app, press the Applications List button found on your smartphone and swipe the InfraMarker app button to the left or right of the screen.

 

Check the blue light on the Reader/Writer. When the app is completely closed, it should go from displaying a constant blue light to a flashing one. The Reader/Writer will then shut itself off within a few seconds.
