Berntsen Magnetic Pipe Monuments - easy to set and they STAY PUT!
Berntsen magnetic pipe survey monuments are offered flared & notched. All stainless steel and iron pipe survey monuments come with a bronze cap, and all pipe monuments come with a permanent magnet.
Designed to meet the requirements of government corners and is similar in appearance to the "regulation Iron Pipe Monument" as found in Chapter IV-7 of the Manual of Instructions For The Survey of The Public Lands of The United States. All flarable pipe monuments feature a Safe-D-Notch, a Berntsen innovation developed to provide an alternative to the ragged saw cuts and drilled holes for stress relief used in other manufacturing methods. The "D" notch has a 3/16" (5mm) radius on a 3" (76mm) sheared cut.
It consists of a 2" (50mm) inside diameter pipe made from one of the following materials:
· Aluminum pipe - models A1NB and A1NBF
· Iron pipe - models IPNB and IPNBF
· Stainless steel pipe - models SSBNB, SSBNBF, SS5NB, and SS5NBF
It features a 3-1/4" (83mm) diameter orbital formed survey cap. Caps are available to fit the inside or outside diameters of the pipe and are tumbled to a smooth mat finish. The cap is secured to the pipe by a solid 3/16'" (5mm) diameter rivet. A permanent ceramic magnet is attached to the underside of the cap. Pipe, cap and rivet are metallurgically matched. The cap is composed of 6000 series aluminum (A1 series) or silicon bronze (IP or SS series).
